my jag hides all the time and never comes out anymore......he didnt do this before only the last couple days..........is this normal?

has anything changed? How big is he? how big is his tank? What tankmates? What water parameters?

nothing has changed......hes like 2".......he lives with a green terror......he found a new hiding spot inside this fake driftwood.....he used to hide from time to time but now he never comes out

Does he look injured in anyway? And how large is the GT

he doesnt look injured..........the gt is the same size.......everything is fine i think i just want to see him and he always hides

i might move everything in my tank around........throw him off a little

he'll just find a new spot to hide in

cichlids are territorial, its natural for them to find a spot not come out too much...i would leave the tank as is..once he's comfortable he'll come out more

when my male jag was a juvy he would do the same and it can be frustrating but in a couple of months he put on some size and began to interact with the other cichlids hes just small and skidish it will change soon.

I have a breeding pair, the female hides in a cave and the male just patrols around..ya could mos def move some stuff around in the tank if its hiding..Try that!!!:headbang2

Hes young...let him know his terrtory...the gt is a bad ass so you never know..my green terror rubs almost every fish besides my oscar the wrong way.
