well i moved everything around and he still hides inside the same thing.....the gt is the only other cichlid with him and isnt aggressive at all...the jag chases the gt sometimes....but its werid because he didnt do it at all and then the last couple days i havnt seen him at all except for the occasional peak.......o well i would really like to see him more but i hope he grows out of it

I've got a jag like that. He hides in a hollow piece of driftwood I got from walmart. I catch him cruisin' the tank from time to time. The only one in the tank he doesn't like is this lace cat i've had for 6 years now. He never bites him just does alot of fake outs like he's gonna. Oh yeah and there's a salvini he slaps around like a hoe that owes him money. :swear:

When the jag gets bigger it will come out more. It's all part of being the prey when they are smaller.

Yea, he will grow out of it... Look at it this way, he will get to big to fit in the hole! Then you will have no choise but to see him.

Later,

Billy

hes acting really sluggish it seems like when i do see him.....he used to swim around everywhere.......and i dont ever see him eat.........he looks okay but is it possible something is wrong with him?

by moving everything around you just stressed him out and now you'll have to wait longer to see him. the stress from the redecoration could be why he's looking sluggish. cichlids (especially juveniles) have to feel secure to come out in the open. you might see him more if you add some type of top dwelling dithers. granted the dithers would either have to be moved in a few months or would probably become a snack, but having a school of some smaller fish swimming out and about would let the juvie cichlids know that there are no large predators around. that fear of being eaten is why they stay hidden so much. :)

there's actually some feeders swimming around that he still hasnt eaten so i dont think that is why.......o well i will just wait
