elk river mn
so i got a 3-1/2" jaguar from snookin21 and 4 -2"from aquabid . how worried should i be that the first will eat the smaller ones?
i have had about 50-75 guppies in the tank to try and get them breeding for feeding so there is already supply of live food all the timeDSC_1969.JPG
I tried to setup a tank inside the tank but 2 have escaped already. was hoping i could grow them a little before releasing them into whole tank which is 420 gallons and 4 stumps with tons of holes and crevices .
If you have them when do you generally see them come out (obviously after lights out) ?
I have only 1 blue night light that is not real bright but i can see most of the tank when it is completely dark.
i have been sneaking up on the tank at various times in the middle of the night to watch but haven't seen the larger one out of his log home that he hides in.
my hope was the addition of the other 4 will give him a group to feel secure with
the little guys are definitely hunting and eating guppy's , yesterday when i looked the 2 still in the cage had huge bellies

Marbled Sailfin Pim is the nickname for Leiarius pictus, which this fish is not. It is either Leiarius Marmoratus (nicknamed Marled Pim) or Longibarbis. Perrichthys perruno are impossible to find, so discount that possibility. It is hard to tell between these three.

Leiarius are far less predatory than RTCs and far, far less so than TSNs. So, your little ones may be okay, but if they can fit in the mouth of the bigger one, no one can tell you you are 100% safe.

They will be hiding a lot during the day while still small. I am a bit surprised you didn't see them out and about at night. Maybe that blue light is still too bright for them. They will more and more embolden, the bigger they get, loosing the need for hiding when they hit 1'-2' length.

the smaller ones do come out , it is the bigger one that i havent seen yet
great, i just checked your id at planet catfish and you sir are correct Leiarius Marmoratus is what it is . DAMMIT it says they grow to32"
NOT real interested in housing 4 30" fish

this is the bigger that i got from snookin, being a avid member here im sure he sells his stock based on accurate ids
