im guessing other sa/ca cichlids in a rather large tank

I honestly had little success with larger cichlids with my Jaguar. I have good experience with smaller cichlids (Convict), larger characins (Tinfoil Barbs), and larger plecos. 6+ inch cichlids never worked well in my tank.

It's up to the fish, really.

i avoided that problem by just having a breeding pair in the tank.

helps to know how big the tank is . . . assuming a very large tank - - say 6x2x2 - - I would feel safe in trying Texas, Oscar, Salvini, Festae, Midas . . .

could also try several Convicts, Rainbows or other tough smaller cichlids

I have found with all my cichlids that any fish big enough to not fit in their mouth, and small enough so it doesnt challenge them and they leave it alone. I've kept my little honduran red points with just about everything, they were always alright.

x2 . . . that's why I thought convicts or rainbows could work too
