YOU TWO!

there is no connection between hard water and gill curl, any arowana will thrive in hard alkaline water and have a 100% full health, softening water isnt nessesary at all, unless you want to replicate amazonian conditions just for kicks, otherwise its a waste of effort and money.

     I can only laugh, Professor Delgado! Who ever said that hard water was the cause of gill curl?? was it me?

what do you mean by hard water?
i have 75gal with a fluval 205 and a penguin 330
i change the filters out everytime i clean the tank about once every two weeks

what do you mean by "hard water"?

that chould be your problem right their when you clean the filters do you wash them out in fresh water or tank water

their is no need to clean an exturnal filter out every 2 weeks if its an inturnal you just need to wash the sponge out in tank water

if you are cleaning the filters out every 2 weeks then its like setting up a new tank every 2 weeks as you are killing all the good bacteria in the filters

Forget Hard water.....
your problem is most likely poor water quality.
You should definitely NOT be cleaning your biological filters once every 2 weeks.
If your doing this, good colonies of nitrofying bacteria are not being let to establish themselves and you probably have high levels of Ammonia or Nitrites or both... Very toxic

Try to be less enthusiastic with your feedings and make sure no food is being left in your tank to rot.
Go out and get your self some Ammonium Down or live nitrifying bacteria and add to the tank. Talk to your LSF guy about dose rates or just have a read.

+ do more frequent/ less quantity water changes.

After about 6 weeks of this your biological filter should start operating properly. Yeah.. and make sure you are using a good water ager.

Furthermore a 75 gallon tank is way too small for an adult Jardini. Get a new tank dude if you want him to become a monster.

Good luck Fella, They are hot fish - deserve to be kept in good conditions. :)

filtration and water maintainence is one of the major problems for gill curl, and our tank size
