So my Jar is hitting the 8 inch mark i can alerady see signs of trouble. When my Dats come up to the surface for food the Jar have a menacing look on his face... i think it looks at the Dats as food now

lol your jar doesn't always look menacing? lmao. Just try and keep him really well fed and hope for the best... My jar gets a little mean at feeding time. it's sorta funny because my pacu will be eating pellets but he doesn't eat them (guess he doesn't see them as food.) But he'll chase down the pacu trying to see what they're eating sometimes trying to steal it from them, but he still doesn't want the pellets. If he goes a day with out food he sometime will take a cpl.... So i feed my pacu pellets and algae wafers and while they're busy i feed my jar meal worms... It's tuff to keep the Pacu busy enough to get the food to the jar sometimes though... And when I see them displaying or going after each other I smack the glass to break up the fighting. This has seemed to lessen the fighting. When I first introduced my Jar to the tank it was a bit rougher and had to remove my oscar, and have just reintroduced him after 3 weeks in solitary confinement.
My jar is only about 6.5" or 7" though so I can't really give you solid advice as to what will happen. I don't think the jar actually sees your dats as food though, just competition.... which might not be any better... best of luck though!

I think the dats should be okay, they're pretty robust. How big are they?
