I used to keep Asian Arowana (Green Arowana), not in the USA, of course !!!! I used to keep Asian Arowana in Singapore before I moved over to the USA. Since it is illegal to own Asian Arowana (I hope they lift up the ban soon), I would like to try out Jardini Arowana as it is smaller than Silver arowana. I am planning to build a 12 ft by 5 ft by 4 ft tank. I am planning to install powerhead to create current at the top of the tank, set up rock and wood background on the tank wall and plant some java fern and nanas on the wall and driftwood to help cope with the waste output and provide hiding place.

I am planning to introduce the following fish......

1. Spotted/ Florida/ Short nose Gar.
2. Hysterix ray/ Motoro ray/ Atlantic freshwater ray (I am living in florida at the moment and I am limited to Atlantic ray.) or Australian Lungfish (import from Australia, i am not quite sure about the max size, but if the most common size of a typical australian lung fish in aquarium happen to be 4-5 feet, I will give up the idea of keeping it), either one of these two as both of this fish are primitive and produce high bioload.
3. Endicheri Bichir
4. Asian Featherback Knifefish (heard that they grow to only 1 feet long, not sure where to get them or how fast they can attain this size, hope someone can show me where to get one)
5. Datnoid
6. Prochilodus

Will these

I am very sorry, I cannot find the edit icon. LEt me continue, Will these fishes hep to suppress the aggression of the Jardini Arowana ?

I don't think jardinis are all that aggressive. I've had quite a few and I've noticed alot of their aggression is aimed at other members of the same species. How many were you planning on keeping because the tank you're proposing should be enough space for a few to establish their own territories and stay out of each others' way. Probably the most important thing in regards to minimising aggression is to add the aggressive fish last. The ray and bichir should be perfectly fine but I've never owned a dat so unsure about him.

oh and lung fish do get huge min in aqurium 4.5ft

For the Australian species ? Ya I guess that is too big, it should be one feet shorter than the width. I am planning in keeping only one species. I may want to remove the knife fish.

My jardini is a lot diff to stigray steves mines evil , he's seen off a lot of tankmates over the years to be fair a lot were not suitable and was just me wishfull thinking , I've tried lots of cichlids none of which worked except for my jag cichlid who's also evil , I have had success with catfish though mainly tuff ones irwini , niger , giraffe , clarius , they've all had to be a decent size though he ate a rtc 3" smaller than him when he was younger , surprisingly he's left a birchir and a wolf fish ( second one ) alone and they could be snack sized

I've owned 2 and both would try to kill everything but my cats and the more fish I put with them the meaner they got. They may be ok with the rays (have no experience with rays) but I doubt it, probably will go after the eyes.

Why move from singapore to here? Lol its such a beautiful place.

Anyways. Jardini are infamous for killer other fish. Best way is to raise all the fish together at young age and let them grow big together.
Jardini are very aggressive. U can add silver dollar fish as ditchers too

I used to remember very well that everyday i wake up in morning, i see bite marks on my other fish.

Jardinis do have a rep for being aggressive, but in a tank of that size I think you've got a good chance of making it work. I would think about adding a school of big silver dollars or tinfoil barbs for some activity in the mid-level which will probably distract any attention from the jardini away from the rays/bottom dwellers.

that jar is going to beat up every mid and top swimming fish once it hits a foot long.
