Yes there are 2 different types then your plats etc, saragota jardini and leichardti now I am not 100% how it works but down here all the LFS label them different I.E leichardti jardini or saragota or something I never really asked but have seen these 2 names, I had to google the second seems to be a lot of debate about it.
Time to time I do also see QLD saragota and other names but again I never asked, all I know is leichardti is in my brain used to describe the whiter jardini but there is not major difference but color where as saragota are more darker.

Yes to my understanding, You can also apparently tell by the whiskers if they point in its a saragota if they point out its a leichardti.
Honestly if you google it theres some really good pages in the first 5, there even seems to be red jardinis etc but is more color morph, the whole body is not red just the tip of the scales and facial markings.
The jardini is from upper north queensland australia in the gulf and the leichardti is further down located on the coastal streams.
Being that the jardini is from further up in the gulf, it is more tolarable of salt where the leichardti is a pure freshwater fish. The difference between the two is the colouring, the jardini has alot more distinguishable colours in the face and scales, having red markings on the face and an overall goldish colour where as the leichardti is pretty basic being predominatly silver with a red spot on each scale, sometimes being called a spotted barramundi.
Here in aus the jardini are priced a hell of alot higher than the leichardti!
