jardini arowana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Cost is definetly too much, should be $45-60. Unless you are sure you can provide a larger tank within a couple months I would not risk it. Realize that eventually this fish will need to be in a 180g (6' x 2' x 2') tank. Also most likely it will have to be the only fish in the tank .

Definetly check out the two stickys that are posted in the previous posts BEFORE you buy a jardini.

Ok thanks, I will not be able to get a tank of that size for probable a year so I am going to have to wait. I was also wondering this will be my first arawana would a jardini be a good pick or should I start with something else?

Good choice on deciding to wait. With a jardini you don't need quite as large of a tank as with a silver or black, but you will have a slim to no chance of keeping it with tankmates. So you will just have to decide when the time comes on what you really want to have.

Agreed...and Jardinis are not anywhere near as flexible as silvers and blacks, so you really have to make sure you supply the fish with a tank that has a decent amount of width.

Jardinis can definitely be a handfull. I use dithers in my tank to distract the Jar from attacking his tankmates. I'm one of the lucky ones that has a very peaceful Jardini...and allows tankmates with him, but you could also get the sterotypical "kill just for the sake of killing" Jardini.
