nah...

I've tried it with seven, recently ( me being so keen with aro comm's, as you know )

Have one, presently.....

How about leichardti's, will they behave any better(but the tank will have to be wider which is why I really don't want them). I would love to do an Aro tank but due to the laws in my state I can only have Jars and Leis, P-bass to calm them is also out of the question due to stupid laws,. Seriously, they cant all be bad, what was your problem Miguel, did you provide lots of cover?. I plan to add alot of dwiftwood and plants to break up line of site, would this help at all.
Lastly why would I need a bigger tank? I would imagine a 10'x3'x2.5' would be plenty big enough to house 6 2ft long fish.

Whilst I have seen many cases of Jardinis co-habitating with other fish, even at large sizes,I have yet to personally see it done with conspecifics. There maybe someone who has succeeded out there. It is hard enough finding a Jar that is tankmate tolerant to other species let a lone it's own type.
You would have more chance with Leis but they can still be nasty.
In the end you can only try,but just be ready for the worst.

Seriously just don't do it... Some people have been successful keeping jars in com tanks with other fish but I have yet to see a jar species tank work out. Check out Greenterra's galleries he has a beauty with a greenterror and some others, right now my 6.5" is doing great with an oscar of similar size and some cats (Though it is told that the great Jardini gets a lot meaner past 7-10 :-/ you can also see my albums for more details). I recently had to get rid of two really nice red belly pacu because my jar finnally turned on the bigger guy. The Pacu would chase him and nip at him a little, nothing seriose or damaging probably just a territory dispute, eventually my Jar had enough and roughed up his side pretty good, so I had to bring them back to the lfs. Everyone else is fine for now though... I think Discus are a good choice large catfish larger lesser aggressive cichlids... You want very timid non territorial fish that are robust enough for an occasional nipping... I would try your best finding other suitable tank mates... but a Jar only com... No go bro IMO

silvers are ok to comm but you'll get the ocassional nip here nip there. from my experiences jar a no no! no matter how many you get in any size tank it will still be like 'david vs goliath' unless you get urself a really big pond.

So every one says no, Miguel still waiting to hear from you. I really want to try this, but if everyone I ask says its not possible I might have to give up on it, for now. Looking at the video on the first page, this is exactly what I would exspect to happen if I had no driftwood to break line of sight, I want to believe it would be different in an aquarium with seperate areas for each fish.

Jars(and other aros for that matter) use up large areas for territories not little niches like some cichlids they will use up all the swimming room possible. You would need a pond in order to accomplish this... and why are you waiting on Miguel he said like 3 posts up that he tried it with 7 and it didn't work and that he only has 1 now...
