Hey all, this is my first post so I do apologise if it should have gone somewhere else. And I did have a quick read over the forums to save myself a post but couldnt quite get the answer I was after.

Ok I just bought my first jardini yesterday after having only ever owned african cichlids until now. The fish shop I got him from fed him cheap cichlid pellets and I watched him scoff them down no problems just before I bought him. I thought id do the right thing and buy the good stuff so I bought the Hikari food sticks. Now I understand this is still early stages as its only the second day in his new home, but he really doesnt seem to like the sticks. He will happily grab them from the surface but just crushes them then spits the whole lot out in little pieces. He seems interested in the food and swims over to it until he eats it then it just gets spat. My guess is he is just used to the old food and needs time to adjust to not only the new food but new environment also. He is about 6 inches long so its not as if the food is too large for him. Its there anything special I should be doing to get him onto this new diet. Im thinking il go a few days and throw a stick in and see what happens. If he spits it, wait another day and try again?? I payed good money for this food haha!! Sorry again if this topic was covered I just wanna make sure im caring for my new friend properly as im new to the arowana/saratoga scene... Cheers in advance

U can try same live foods, or use Garlic Guard of Seachem, this really
open appetite (this product is recommended for sick fish)

Same times new fishs slow to adapt at new tank, so wait 3 days so so and if he doest eat try the methods above

Just give it some time, if it was eating pellets before. Since it's taking them now but spitting back out, it won't take long before the hunger will overpower it's distaste for the new food.

Worst thing you can do is throw some live food or treat like food at it, while yes it may eat it right away it will be that much harder to get it on the food sticks. Once it is eating food stick regularly you can expand the menu.

There may be a disinterest for the food, when the live food was suggested to revive the hunger of fish
Here we use live food rich in protein like Branchipus stagnalis, Tenebrio molitor (larva), Enchytraeus albidus.
At my personal experience i note that this is a big
ally against desinterrese by food

just continue feeding it sticks it will take it sooner or later
