Was feeding FD Krill to a Silver for about a year until he got too large to be interested in them. Then a friend suggested an Oriental Market where they sell FD shrimp that are slightly larger. The Aro does not like them as much because their shells are harder and you want to make sure the package ingredients are 100% dried shrimp only (no salt, preservatives, etc.). Finally went to pieces of market shrimp and centimeter square pieces of cut raw flounder, frozen, then thawed. Also in summer it gets the occasional Cicada or grasshoppper as long as the insect appears healthy. Have never given the Aro live fish and would recommend prepared foods, they are easier and usually cheaper and healthier. Fish is now about 16" in a mixxed peaceful cichlid tank (80 gals.). Am beginning to look for larger final tank for him. Which we could have an Asian Aro. here!
BTW Datnoids like the krill as well, have two small ones that have never had live food. They are so small that I have to break them up into small pieces (the krill, not the Dats!).
