super worms crickets and blood worms is what i used to feed mine and he grew from 3 inches to 18 inches in about 8 months i fed him a dozen and a half crickets when i got home from work around 4 or 5 pm super worms in the morning and blood worms at night every day three times a day i fed him used crushed coral chips on the bottom black water solution for the water temp of 85 and a good filtration 50% water changes once a week and he grew like a bandit. Sorry if this is considered derailing the thread just wanted to let you know what i did to get mine to grow so fast any ways good luck jar's are the best fish on the planet

use hikari food stick or large cichlid gold pellets. my fish grow dramatically off this stuff. packed with protein and healthy greatness...

my opinion, optimal growth, comes from hikari products
