You did your best.

I reckon you're right.

Fed him well, did not put in other fish or much rock in order to give him ample space. Considering it was a 120gal tank.
Also had the tank sealed really good. Had I not, he would have jumped out a long time ago.

My friend went through 3 Aros. They all jumped out and died overnight.
I asked him, "why did you not seal the tank after the 1st one". He responded it would not happen again. Sure enough it happened two more times.:shakehead

Isn't the definition of insanity according to, Albert Einstein... doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results?

Sorry to hear. That has to be the best looking jardini I have ever seen. I have seen alot of them. The coloration on it's head and large fins, nice body shape with smooth bronzey color blending at the rear with darker base. No artificial lighting to enhance colors. Very nice, sorry for the loss.
I understand why you put it down. I would have done the same.

If you smell something funny with the water always good to check as the nose knows.
In the future have that test kit ready and use regularly. They have saved me more than a few times over the years.

He was a nice looking Jar sorry you lost him.
I have had trouble with high nitrite levels in my tap water in the past and again recently 10ppm +
straight out of the tap sometimes, so I always check after treating when using tap water for water changes.
The water supply people say it is because of the heavy rains and it is ok to drink. It smells bad as well.

Sorry for your loss. It was a very nice jar!
