Jardini Or Black Arowana....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've raised 4 African aros over 24 inches and they all stayed mid water to top water
Do they feed like normal aros? I myself don't know much about them but most of the Africans I've seen on YouTube eat differently than normal aros.

Most people start baby African aros on bloodworms......so of course its off the bottom but the goal is to get them on to pellets and I've had the best success on floating so of course they go up top....they will feed both on sinking or floating but normal swimming zone is mid to top water. Here is a old vid of one of mines from 11 years ago

If you ask me NO species of arowana should be in a 6x2x2 tank. Every speices of arowana gets over 24" and species like silver and black aros get over 30" even some african aros can get that big (Although its unlikely it can happen)
Sorry to contradict but I've not seen jardini above 18-20 inches but have seen 40inch silvers and blacks could also reach 36 inches possibly
same. I think jardinis are sutiable in a 6 x 2 x 2 (bare minimum though). Largest one I’ve seen was only 18”. Asian arowanas are similar to jardinis, but grow to about 22”-24” length, hence require at least a 2.5ft width

I have come across videos of Jardini's that look like they could be pushing the two foot mark, could just be a weird angle or a freak case. Although I've never kept a jardini, I imagine an 18-20 inch fish in a tank 2 feet wide is pushing it, but I think it could be doable.

24”? That probably would be either a weird angle unless you saw it in person, or wild caught perhaps. Aye, that’s why I mentioned 2 feet is the absolute minimum

Nope, just videos I've seen on Reddit, Youtube, Instagram, and Facebook :p

I can't tell if this really is a Jardini or not because of the poor views and stuff, but here is a video claiming a 25"
