ok, so being all sucked into the arowana madness and all (never thought i would be, but does that make me a conformist?), anyways, looking at my future setup list, oh wait a minute..... i have room for a jardini!!!! which was original pick until i was convinced of a big tank with a silver in it. but i know your all fans of arowana and will prolly pick the other one, but i just want to run it by you all. and i should prolly mention that both tank options are 180 gallons, so 6x2x2ft. with a fluval fx5

option #1 (original option.... but my oscar fantasies are going to be fulfilled in my aro tank.....)

4 Albino Tiger Oscar
1 Black Ghost Knifefish
1 Lima Shovelnose Catfish

option #2

1 Jardini
1 Lima Shovelnose

(i figure a lima would go ok since they dont get big and stay on the bottom all the time.....)

input?

I like option 2 better. A single FX-5 wouldn't be enough filtration for option 1 and is seriously pushing it for the latter as well imho.

its turnin over the tank 5 times in an hour. need two?

Imo yes. Sorry for derailing your original point.

Option 1 would be a cool looking tank too but I'm going Jardini on this one.

its no problem, wouldve came out anyways lol. but yeah i think a jar could get along with a shovelnose cat, since i think that it would mind its own. i just thought since ive already satisfied my oscar needs maybe another aro would add some touch to my setups

With a jardini, your stocking option is very limited. There is a sticky thread by Steve_89 which may help. I had a jardini and it managed to destroy some of my fish so I had to keep him by himself for a long time before I lost him.

Go option 2. My advice is to get a larger tank mate for jardini. Of course you are funning the risk of catfish eating your jardini (not sure how big or agro lima is ...cos never kept before) heheheheh tough choice.

PS: i keep jardini successfully in a community ... that said, it is the smallest one of the lot (bichir excepted) ... the rest are quite significantly larger than him (her?)

Oscars are cool but you will definitely need another filter for option one.

Overall, I'd go with option 2! Most Jars are killers, but you wont know until you try em out. Good luck.
