hey guys im really worried about my jardini, i tried everytihng ( differnet food, temerpature raise ) my jardini isnt moving as much wen i got him ( and i got him 3 days ago ) hes not eating, and he looks like hes about t die what should i do?
Check water if its at where it should be hes just gettin use to his new home mine didnt eat for a week i almost brought him back to the petstore but he finally ate.
How big is the fish. That is abnormal. When i got mine at 4" it was eating on the first day (hikari no less). Do bear in mind that it is not uncommon for fish not to eat for weeks though.
Check water. Assuming you have cycled the tank. Assuming lots of aeration for your tank (air stones etc)
Sometimes putting a puny fish into a big aquarium also results in no eating (if that is the case, use separator).
check water, any tankmates? my jar didnt eat for a good 3days - a week i forget and u should keep the lights off and possibly wrap the tank with newspaper to calm him down. hes prob not use to the tank yet.
thanks guys, yah i there are some snakehead and an oscar but im pretty sure there not doing anthing to the arowana LOL i think the aro is scarring them aha, so u tihnk i should just turn of the lights? also wen do u think the water is too hot for the jardini?
Do regular water change and keep checking the water parameters.
Fish can go without food for long time especially when stressed. Try to seperate this buddy from other tank mates and dont do anything that will startle him.
My jar water temp is at 29 - 30c
very good temp i think - good metabolism and keeps him active.
if it sits on the corner, its stressed, aros do that when stressed.
the other fish might be doing it
just because they are not attacking or fighting doesnt mean they dont stress it out from my experience.
but, the jar should be strong willed and get used to it.
aeration, good temp and water quality. if you had other fish alreayd and they are perfect then no reason to believe the small jar will throw everything off balance i dont think.
one good way to get him goin - this is what i do with stressed fish.
buy them live food. they cant resists them by instinct, and that jumpstart them and relieves stress when you give live food.
