Surely this guys trolling?...

if this is genuine then you have all of the info you need, you may not need a tank immediately (even though I and many others think you should) you will need 1 very soon. As for tank mates it will either be ok or kill them, nobody can give you a 100% answer. What else do you need to know?

Hey guys I'll get photos. Right now about 10 inches.

I'll get a tank soon.

with regards to tankmates, you just have to try.. i have seen it work with large tinfoil barbs and pacus. however, i have also seen a jardini who wanted the whole tank for himself.

for the tank size i think it would be ok for now. i generally don't agree with only giving the minimum tank size for a fish but it would still be ok. the fish may be happier in a bigger tank but then again it will still thrive in a minimum sized tank. With minimum i mean Length=3x the length of the fish and Width= 1.5x the length of the fish. so if you have a 75gallon tank (im guessing 48x18 footprint) you would be looking to transfer him when he is about 12 inches because of the width of your tank. the other posters were only trying to help. the fish being 10" already you would have two months at the very most (if i am not mistaken) before he reaches 12". so you should be getting a bigger tank very soon so you can cycle it properly and not rush things.

a lot of people would be against getting any tank mates for a jardini. Even more would suggest against it with a minimum sized tank. if you really want tankmates, i would suggest going for a tank bigger than the minimum. i think he will be less likely to kill of his tank mates with more space.

i was reading your other posts... is the jardini still in with all those other fish?? i mean... i think it would have been better to ask for advice first prior to getting the tankmates..

also i was wondering what's your filtration like? and what are your current water parameters? ammonia nitrite nitrate?

In two months the most my jar has ever grown is a bit shy of 3 inches. I doubt it will outgrow the 75 gallon but it will be stuffed. By this time it could very likely kill everyone in your tank because its a bit crowded, I would move him asap. I moved my jar to a 220 when she was 10 inches and she couldnt be happier.

Im 99% positive she is going to stay alone. I throw a feeder a bit smaller than the size of her head and she instantly comes over and shoves it in her mouth, jar's are meant to be kept alone in my experiences.

That's nice to hear.

I might get a 375 gallon tank. That is over the minimum, but we might just go for 280 if we don't have too much time....would that be big enough? A jardini I have heard is a nasty killer, is it really true? Some people have kept them with other fish. I think rodger has kept them with discus.
