Jardini with gill curl.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Gill curl can be cured if treated as soon as it develops. Mines develop it on one side overnight after a water change using Prime (I am not sure if the Prime caused it, but I have not used it since). I change 75% of the water and put in a a high flowing Power head. After 3 weeks and multiple water changes the gill reverted by to normal and has never had gill curl again.

It's caused by poor water quality, lack of aeration and small tank size .....I've seen quite a bit of cases when the condition reversed once the fish was placed in a proper setup. It also depends on the age of the fish and how severe the curl is (surgery is the last corse of action that should be taken).

Well, this guy is about six or eight inches in length so I assume he is pretty young.Don't know if he is stunted or not but he is in a rather small tank.Being in a store, the tank is meant to be temporary but he actually has been there for a while.

If that's the case, if you really like the fish and it acts healthy otherwise, IMO you should get it because chance are you'll be able to reverse the GC.

Thanks Nomad.

Will do but the other member who posted is also interested and he may get it before I can so I guess the same goes for him.
