Not normal behavior. What else is in there thats freeking him out?

how many jars have you had? The jar owners I've talked to say jars can be skittish all the time. My jar was skittish till the 1 foot mark. Now he's only skittish when he's full. But how is it not normal. Fish is definitely not mans best friend. I'm sure there are cases where your jar will completely not be skittish but man other than gill curl my fish is somewhat healthy and being skittish and just another attempt at staying alive in nature...

I covered my tank with stretched out paper bags for awhile. Just give him time... Or maybe trade him in if you mind too much.

I've had a couple of Jars that did that. They snapped out of it after a couple of months though. It's normal I guess for some of them to do that when they are in a new inviroment.Your Jar is probrably still not use to his new surroundings.Give your Jar another month or two and he'll calm down.

I've had the one Jar I have now for a month and he's still staying in one corner of the tank and not doing a whole lot of swimming around.

i bought mt jar at 4" and he was skittish till he was like 8" or so
and then sometimes he is still skittish though he is like 15" now

what lightnin fixture do you use i had same prob with my young jar. i solved it buy takin out one side of the lamps leaving it dark and one side lit with floating plants.also spend more time with your jar not just at feeding time.He will get use to you.

For me, my jar was scare all the time when it was a baby but I changed the lighting to a brighter light and had objects always near it on the outside of the tank so it would get use to having stuff around. The more it sees you, the more it sees moving things, the more it gets used to it. I've even resorted to using pictures hahaha. But now my monsterous 16 incher begs for food not just from me but from guests who come over to my house. Just be patient though, it's not over night process.

maybe because of the spot where you put your tank.. if your tank is in a place where it is the busiest place in the house, your jar will surely get freaked out.. but then again, it is the normal behavior for jars.. it took mine a month for it to adjust.. it could also be the lights..
