jar's are 1 of the most hardiest fish i have kept...water parametres arnt essential, except for the obvious! i'd be thinking of getn a bigger tank personally :)

That's a pretty vague statement. What are the obvious? Some could misinterpet and leave this tread thinking ammonia or nitrites won't hurt their fish.

Your best bet is to hold of a couple weeks before getting that Jar. Your tank is gonna go through some ammonia and nitrite spikes. It is sensless to subject fish you care about to these unhealthy conditions.

yeah i got a test kit and all that water should be ok..ima jsut let it cycle..test it again tomorrow and see how it is then maybe get the jar...is new uncycled water supposed to be cloudy? mines pretty cloudy my green severums fine in there though been in there for about a week now eating great and everything..just about the cloudy water

whats the ph levels needed for a jardini?
Ph?
Ammonia?
Nitrate?
Nitrite?
anything else important?

125gal tank
tank has been up and running for a week with a green severum doing great in it going to take the water to test it at a lfs..
thanks for your help

A new tank setup I presume?

This is what I do in check for my life stock in a new tank.

Control the amount of fishes in there until the filtrer is mature.

For now, a jar with another one or two tankmates look fine to me.:)

But to prevent any ammonia spike in there, you can use active carbon in there for about a month till your filter slowly mature and remove active carbon once it's done.

As for ph, the safe gauge will be at 7.:)

yeah new tank setup..its just going to be the jar by it self alright ill try replacing the active carbon within a month or so..

I keep Discus, too, and water changes in any size tank are essential for optimum fish growth.
