I've had my baby jar for about a month now and he's already grown from 4.5 to about 6". I'm happy with everything about the little guy expect for one thing which is his barbels. They seem really flimsy and not as steady and strong as asians and silvers/blacks that I've seen. I turn my FX-5 way down in my tank when I feed so the food doesnt go directly into my overflow (it's also drilled for sump) and even then when the jar swims it seems like his barbels are getting pushed back even with little to no current. Are Jar's barbels just more flimsy than asian and silvers? Whenever I've seen a grown Jardini their barbels aren't as impressive and don't seem as big. What do you guys think? Am I trippin :screwy: or is there something to my theory?

pi-eyed. i'm a big fan of your jar. hoe old? i hope mine grows to be as beastly as yours on day. yea i thought that jars had the weakest/smallest barbels but i wasn't sure if my observations were correct.

Thanks for the compliment :grinno:... I bought "Brutus" last year from a fellow mfk member. He was about 20" or so when I brought him home. He's around 24" + now. As for his age I'm not sure... But he is a big beastly fish that tolerates other fish in HIS tank......I'm very happy with him.
