Jaridini Compability

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Some update pics of the plinth, they did a nice job

Most parts are ready (custom sump, 100L of bio-balls, 5 sets of twin T5 lights, heaters, 2m driftwood log, 9000lph pumps)
just needing to wait a couple of weeks for the glass, and 3D background.

I also need to chose the gravel for the tank, not sure if i want black or a light coloured gravel, or what type design for the 3d background.

Also starting to look for some around for a Jardini, I will have him in another tank till this one is ready. Cant wait for the lung fish

I am thinking about getting a Jardini for the tank as other species of Arowana/Saratoga are impossible to get in Australia (at a decent price anyway Silvers cost $400 and up, please dont ask about Asians:().

I know its not really what you're asking, and I know big fish can be really pricey in Oz, but how much are you spending on this tank? It sounds like an awesome tank, a dream tank maybe even, and the fish you stock it with are going to be long-term pets. IMO you shouldn't let the cost affect your decision of the fish you put in it. If you get a jardini simply because its cheap then you're going to be looking at it for the next 10 years thinking 'man, I should have spent a bit more and got a silver/black/green/whatever'. The cost of a more expensive fish spread out over its life isn't really that much more.

Its your choice at the end of the day, but if it were me I wouldn't be risking a bunch of other (expensive) fish in my dream tank for the sake of saving a bit of cash. If you want a jar because its your favourite aro then go for it, just be prepared for the worst. But if you're thinking about it as a cheap substitute then think long and hard if its really worth it...

I know what you are talking about, the tank is costing in total about 14k that is everything from plinth-bulkhead to tank and all parts/materials and equipment.

The Asian aros are hard to find and after spending so much on the tank not sure how much my partner would appreciate spending so much more on it. I do like the jardini's, i like them better ben silvers but nothing compares to the Asians. Also spending about au$550 for the lungfish. So yeah I agree and don't cheap out on pets as you always regret it later(the 8month puppy In the pic (not rottie) was 2 grand) not sure he is worth it yet, he is a rascal!
