Hi there

I have a question about attaching java fern to bog/driftwood. My LFS says it's necessary to drill holes into the driftwood and then plant the Java Fern in the holes, this is a BIG job for me tho since I've already decorated my tank and I really don't want to take out the wood again :/

Can the Java fern simply attach itself to the wood without any drilled holes? I've used elastic bands to hold the plants in position. Also, How long does Java fern take to root into the wood?

Thanks alot! :D

y" it will take a long time to actually attach to the wood though. Its funny I've never had luck with small java ferns attached to wood. I just buy really large ones and let them sit on the surface of the sand. They grow like crazy (relatively speaking) like that.

Yes they will attached themselves to the wood, no holes needed. I would use fishing lines to secure them instead of elastic bands

Difference in?

I've had much luck with super glue and fishing line. If the driftwood was out of the water I'd use some sewing thread. But not cotton though cause it breaks down too fast.
