i used to have some in my tank but i got rid of it when my first archer died becuase i thought the fern was to blame anyway it did fine but now i have a huge sumatra fern that is turning brown and dieing so i am going to add a 8 inch and a 6 inch java fern but will it survive the sg is 1.010

Very few plants survive about 1.005. Plastic is always the best option as you go saltier.
As far as Java fern goes, I've heard they do okay just below 1.010 (something like 1.008) but they do much better at a lower salinity.

besides mangroves wich i have wat other plants will survive 1.010 and i want real plants becuase plastic plants ur fish cant really eat a little bit if plant matter is in their diet and plastic plants wont compete with alagea and they cant absorb nitrates
I actually came across a post somewhere that claimed that they had them at 1.016, but 1.010 sounds doable.
You inspired me to go out and try a couple of Java ferns in one of my brackish tanks. It is only 04/05 so I shouldn't have a problem. All of my vals that I transplanted from another brackish tank died off for some reason in that tank. My only guess is that they didn't like the argonite substrate.
For my other brackish tank (1.016), I am going to try and track down some macro algae, it is supposed to be able to tolerate lower salinities.
Bought a mangrove also, going to eventually try and stretch the roots out and have them grown down into the tank.
