It was definitely not the java fern.
How long has your tank been set up?
Water parameters?
Salinity/ specific gravity?
Temp?
Have you recently cleaned your tank/ filter?
Added anything new to the tank?
It could be a lot of different things. Though the java fern was not one of them.

I just stated that good pH for BW is 8. 7 is more acid than neutral.
You said your SG is 1.010 & then ask how to measure it?
ANY amount of ammonia is toxic.
