Java fern?

I give mine Flourish and Iron. Seems to love that. Has been a lovely dark green ever since I started with the Iron. Potentially, you could tie it to a rock or branch of sorts and it would attach itself to that item and stay there. Takes a while though. I had mine tied to a branch for about two months before I planted it in the ground. Didn't have the patience for it.

Correct me if im wrong but i think java ferns one of those that die if you bury the rhizome. Ive always had it grown to my driftwood. Use the smallest diameter monofiliment to tie it on.....then forget about it...and def add ferts to the tank....youd be suprised what difference a lil food will make.

Yup...don't bury the rhizome. I used to do that and people would always say how easy Java Ferns were to keep, but mine kept decaying away. After I read about the rhizome thing, my current Java Ferns are doing fine. As for attaching to rocks/driftwood, it seems they don't really to attach to them, IME. I found that I tie them down on to driftwood, but they root into the substrate. I've also tied them onto some cut pieces of egg crates and bury the crates into the substrate which leaves the rhizome above the substrate.

What's the rhizome. Sorry. I know very little about plants. Should I just use fishing line to tie it around wood.

It's the base between the roots and the leaves. Fishing string would work fine.
