Java moss lighting

My friend gave me some java moss. I have a little bit left over and i put it in a small plastic tank with regular water. There is no heater or no lighting. Will the Java moss grow and live? or die?

I keep my excess moss in a vase in my windowsill...it will be fine.

If there is no lighting, the java moss will die.

I have had moss survive weeks in a ziplock in my basement that I forgot about. Java moss is VERY hardy. I would just stick it in a windowsill where it will get light that way and it will be fine.

it's moss, it will grow in anything. What he was referring to "no light" he didn't mean pitch black, it's called ambient lighting.
