Been trying to grow this for about 6 weeks now but it just goes brown and nothing grows. all i hear is this stuff grows like crazy but not in my tank.
the tank is 30" deep 72" long and 24" wide. i have one blue light tube. 2 white t5s they were on for 8hrs a day now 10 hrs but no change. Temp is 78f. any ideas what im doing wrong.

Hmm no idea. I have some in my 55 gal with home depot's 2 48" t8 bulbs on about 9 hours a day. Temp is around 76 degrees. 0 ammonia 0 nitrites and nitrates. I dose occasionally with API's leaf zone once a month. They don't seem to be dying, some parts are brown while others are nice a green. Some are floating around but a majority are tied to driftwood.

It's taken forever to get mine established, but finally it's gone mad, gives me a good idea for future tanks.

It it easy to care for, mine is in a small tank with the lights on for 6 hours a day. Very shallow though.

I swear I can grow the stuff in a dark closet with out water. Yet I know a guy (who is on MFK) that swears there is NOTHING he can do to keep it alive. And he has other plants that grow just fine too.

Not really helpful for you, but at least you know you are not alone.
