I am looking to put some java moss in my 29 gallon tank, it is currently empty but i am looking to breed bristle-nose plecos in it. Is there a way to grow it off of a Terra-cotta pot? And can someone point me in the direction of where to purchase this stuff? I cant seem to find it anywhere near me, I live on LI in New york. If someone would be willing to ship me some I would defiantly pay for shipping :naughty:
Cheers -Jim

Ancistrus cats prefer a long cave with a single opening rather than a terra cotta pot. To answer your question, java moss can be tied to objects (braid fishing line works well). It takes quite a while before it attaches itself. I have java moss, but won't ship it due to the holidays, slow mail delivery, and low temperatures.

I think I've seen Petco sell some java moss attached to terra cotta figures and stuff. Don't know if that's what you would want though.

Java Moss should be easy enough to get. But if you can't find it in person (which would be a tad odd but LFS on the Island are odd sometimes......maybe try Bird Lovers Only since it seems to have some of that around) and want it shipped to you, at that point I would get xmas moss or peacock or something that just looks nicer.

Any moss can be grown on the potting though, since it isn't a smooth surface and would have places for the fronds to grip

Your from the island too? Do you think you could tell me where you normally go? I go to pets warehouse normally for all my fish stuff but is there anywhere better that you go?
