Why is my java moss keep dying?

It is attached on my rift wood and every morning I see a brown sand-like on top of my plants???

Help please?

no, but alot of times debris will get trapped in moss. try "fluffing" it with your gravel vac during water changes.

well it looks bad. Is this a new setup? what sort of lighting and plants do you have in it? is the brown stuff elsewhere as well?

Actually that brown stuff started when I put my new drift wood(boiled 5-6hrs, soaked in the water for 3weeks)... It releases tannins for a day or two and when the tannin settled down that brown stuff started to sprinkle onto my plants...

My tank is 20g and running for 5months now... I have a low lighting for my javas... I have a Breeding pair of convicts in there...

Possibly diatoms.
Diatoms are algae that build little shells out of dissolved silicates in your water. They need very little light. They typically appear in new setups, and then disappear as silicates are used up, but if you're adding tapwater with silicates in it, you're adding more silicates. Mine stopped growing when I started using RO water.

it could be bearded algae. bearded algae is quite common when dealing with driftwood or bog wood. not sure if it could survive a boil though. this algae looks a lot like dirt and its very light so one small current in the tank and this stuff is everywhere. look at bearded algae on Google and see if it looks like it.
here is a website that has some info about bearded algae:

if your positive this is not it then there is one more possible hypothesis. it could be a material called Ditritus or Mulm. i recently had a bad infestation on this stuff and it was a nightmare to get rid of. anyway good luck!
