What's the easiest way to get your java moss to attach to driftwood? I had mine in for over a month, and still not attached. I have them loosely tied to the driftwood with black thread, which can be cut and removed later.
 
I just do what you have done and let the thread rot off, I use staight cotton thread for that kind of thing. The only other thing I do is rough up the surface of the wood first with coarse grit sand paper or even a knife. I have had moss stay loose from the wood but it grew into itself so it was like a sock around the wood. I have not used it often, most of the mosses I have used were for native tanks and I used things like black moss from the waters that I got the fish from. It was aready attached to sticks or rocks.
 
try tying it a little tighter, and just give it time. do you have a lot of new growth?
