hey guys - never posted any ammonia updates, I forgot! both tap water and water from the filter were free from ammonia. I'm pretty sure it's because I have no chloramines in my tap water

Here is the chloramine filter itself. This unit goes for $62 from thefilterguys.biz.

Do you know how many gallons these filters can treat before they need replacement? I'm dripping roughly 10gph - on all tanks combined.

Not sure but i've heard there customer service is great, try emailing them. I know as on gets used you put it in the other housing or something like that.

dont know the answer either but it's a couple thousand gallons. pharaoh/bobby says he's had his running for almost a year and still working good

If I remember correctly, it is about 5,000 gallons. Mine ran for the better part of a year without issues. I changed it because I "felt" it was time.
