I had him in a 112 gal, lots of hidding spots but he kept bulling my oscar and severum so I put the JD in a 40 gal for now until the oscar grows a bit and will see what happens then

Good idea, JD can kill smaller oscars. I have my oscar for about two months and it grew from ~2-2.5 inches to ~6 inches now. I'm feeding it a lot and changing water every 3 days- 4 days because of the extra feeding. Temperature at 80 degrees.

are you planning on keeping them together?

Not at the moment but later I might do it. I'm trying some plants in my oscar tank so as soon as the oscar destroy all of them I might try it lol.
