Jd, 11 inches?

Hi i just wanted to know how often a jd will grow to 11 inches. Mine is only a month and a half with me and has grown from 2 icnhes to 5 inches, im thinking he is going to be big b8t is a jd growing to 11 inches out fot eh ordinary?

I don't know how common it is but I had a 6 year old JD that was around a foot long when he died.

I have seen some 10-12" jacks it's rare but it can happen with lots of wc's.

Dout you could find W/C JD's, i would pay alot if i could get a pair, ive already emailed rapps.
it would take long to get that size as like most fish they slow down alot around 6" size

Actually wild Jack Dempsey's are usually smaller than those seen in captivity:

I would that ten-eleven inches can happen but is very rare and doesn't really happen in the wild.

Probably due to competition in the wild for food. But in a good size tank , lots of water changes, feed em top shelf stuff and it will grow very quickly. But I have heard that power fed fish suffer from shortened life spans. But it sounds like you are already on the right track to having you JD be a big boy so to speak.

I have seen a 10 1/2 jd in a 180,but it was 9 yrs old and a large tank.

i've seen a 12"er but it was in a huge pond around 2,000 gallons but that just proves that it can happen
