Hi :) , to ask you with what cichlids the JD could be hybridized?....'cause 3 weeks ago I buy a little JD hybrid (was labeled just like JD), it has the exactly the same color and pattern of a normal JD, but it has high body and the head doesn't seem like a regular JD head.......and it grow faster than any normal JD I had before, he grew 1" inch in 3 weeks......and is a totally SOB, he is just 3" and his favorite hobby is kick the ass of my 6" male jag . I never had a JD so mean before .....
And I was trying to know JD with what fish is that guy......
Thanks a lot, and sorry for my Poor English :irked: .

Hi and thanx :) ....well, here are 2 pics of this guy:

The color and pattern are the normal for a JD, but the body shape is diferent to the others I'd had before....They were more like this (this pic is not mine, is from a topic here in MFK):

Maybe this guy is just a little fat JD  ....but I think he looks a little diferent:screwy: .... and a guy from another forum said that he breeds JD, and that my fish is not a 100% JD.......and I want to know what kind of cichlid is...
Ok, thanks for all. And again, sorry for my poor English.

it looks like its got GT in it seeing theat first pic

Yeah, looks like a Dempsey to me too. Although I will admit it sounds very out of character for a small JD to (successfully) attack a much larger Jag.

It has been a while since I have had a JD, but from what I remember they were kind of middle of the road on aggression: Not wimps, but not super meanies that beat up on everyhing, including fish much larger than them. I usually put them in the catagory of being an opportunistic bully - beating up on smaller, less agressive fish. Maybe your fish is more closely decended from wild JDs? Anyone know if they are still collected in the wild?
