I highly doubt a water change will hurt anything no matter what. I would start there....

Instead of removing the fish carry out a 50% waterchange this will help if its nitrate poisoning and if its not wont do the fish any harm. How often do you carry out water changes and gravel vacs? Also what tank mates are in with the JD?

I do a 1/3 water change every week and gravel vac every 2 weeks and theres a Jag 2 in
GT 3 in and Con 1 in
