JD v.s. Pleco

A 3 in JD can't swallow a 2.5 in Pleco. Worst thing that can happen is the pleco dying from stress.

But probably nothing will happen and they will start ignoring each other after a couple of days

Not trying to be Mr. Negativity but it may never work. My Jack now 8+" has hated pleco's since he was 2". He does not care about other cichlids, barbs, bichirs, knives or even catfish the look kinda like a pleco like AFF and striped Raphael, but he will behead a pleco just for the hell of it.

They will be fine. Also it would not take the JD long to figure out that the pleco is not something he wants to eat.

the worry is that as cichlids attack plecos they tend to tear up the fins or pull out the eyes since the fish is otherwise invulnerable. If he's not attacking your pleco in this way you are fine and he's just displaying dominance.

I have this issue with my Midas and Pleco. The Midas (9.5") has torn up the fins on my sailfin (8") on multiple occasions. The pleco is no pushover he will head butt the Midas and fight with him!
