How do you figure? Comet goldfish....sure, terrible feeders. Home-raised cichlids with good nutrition?

Exactly, feeder treats are fine as long as they are a more nutritional fish that you know doesnt have any diseases.

but yeah OP he looks like he has some nice color, but is he a short-bodied variant or something, his body shape looks really odd to me, like his back end just cuts down and then there is his tail, but no sloping down towards the tail...

Feeders are a once a month..once every two weeks thing at the most. Other than that he gets pellets :) Even a fitness trainer likes mcdonalds every now and then, lol. I use guppys I breed myself or Rosey Reds. I wont buy feeders from a store. it slopes all the way, the picture is just really bad. As far as a short bodied variant, ive wondered something like that myself. Hes differant from other JDs ive seen his size, Right now im looking for a female. He was paired up, but the other JD was taken. Finding one that size already is hard enough, lol
