JEBO Canister Filter

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have 2 Jebo on my 90 gal and they seem ok. I did notice that their parts on intake and outflow did seem really stiff. But heck my Marienland c-220's "hard plastic" parts on the same areas seem soooooooooooooo cheap and crappy its like they were made by an entirely seperate company and Marienland didnt even check to see that they in no way match the rest of the quality of the product they charge a nice price for. My Jebos havent leaked or had a failure yet. I have 2 Magnum HOT and a 350 that leak or basically sit on the "junk pile". I am not slamming ones products for anothers I like both and maybe I have been too rough on my Magnums and treated my Jebo extra carefully due to thier rep. I personally dont put too much stock in the anti china thing, remember 20 years ago when everything from Taiwan and Hong Kong and in a large part American stuff too was crap? Or 30 + years ago and the stuff from Japan was crap too? And before that it was European. I think that it runs in cycles.

I did a research and they are called quilt batting. Do you use cotton batting or polyester?
Yep, that's what it is. :) As in regards to cotton or polyester, well, whichever is the cheapest. I have no idea which one I'm using right now - though I kinda think it should be polyester (cotton would have been more expensive).

Indeed! :)

I'm thinking of buying another Jebo to use for mech filtration only... with filter floss, just like you did. Should get crystal-clear water :)
:iagree:

You can load the top tray with floss. I use the fillings used in quilts - these come in mats that you can buy by the foot.

Very cheap. Very efficient.

Unless I'm mistaken, I got the tip from one of the guys here. :) MFK rocks! :headbang2
not the top tray!! if you have floss(fine) in the top tray it will clog very quickly and you'll have almost no filtration output will be going very slow!! third and fourth tray are great though.

So, load only 2 trays out of 4? Only the bottom ones? (I'm talking about a canister just for mech filtration)

When i had mine, in the top 2 trays i used course filter pads to prefilter the larger debis, then the bottom two were filter floss. this way it doesnt clog as fast and keeps the gph longer. it does keep the tank very clean i found. I also tryed doin the top 2 trays with course filter pads and the bottom two filled with bio-media. but i found the filter worked better as a mechanical filter, and have another filter for bio. you could always get 2 jebo canisters and use one for mechanical and one for bio.

Noticed that the canister is somewhat noisy now... sort of rattles... maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Jebos are ok only if you are really meticulous. My friend who owns a fish store ordered two jebo 838s for me against his better judgment only because I was low on cash and because he knew that I'm habitually meticulous and careful. Every part of it is pure plastic though. As with the rumble, check the propeller or if yours has air in it.

i have a JEBO canister filter sitting on the side of my house.. i won't put it on any of my tanks.. i LIKE my fish.
