Jeff Rapps closing down TUIC after 25 years

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I wondered about that. Discuss origins closed up shop too. Dont see predatory fins in there either anymore
Fb and IG is the reason. More exposure than the forum. That’s why a good number have gone and don’t need to pay the vendor fee. While others have gone out of business. Still a few around and others undercover hiding and selling.

Damn thats really sad. I just got a list ready to order from him and get it shipped to sweden.

discus origin is on FB or out of biz ? I couldn' t find them. As long as Rehoboth aquatics keeps its doors open i'll survive lol

Mark Chen at Discus Origins went out of business. He decided to finish a degree and didn’t have time for the business.

I never bought from Jeff but he responded quickly when I inquired about kelberi cichla.
My hats off to this guy. The work and time he invested! Suggest we all make a toast to him and congratulate him on his retirement.
Jeff- I am right behind you!

I'm thinking he will transfer his stock to somebody, that's what I take from the end of that message. This is sad, Jeff was a great vendor and is a nice guy. But at least nowadays there are a few more sources out there for new world cichlids. 10-15 years ago if he had closed up shop we would have all been screwed!
Hate to say it but these kind of guys are one in a million. He was probably hands on with everything. Knowledgeable, caring, etc etc. A dying breed.

That's a bummer Jeff always represented the USA made me so proud! Sad to see him leaving the business.
FB & IG are very cool but nothing beats the vendor stock list on the mfk forum in my opinion.
I wish more vendors can work things out with mfk to be able to post on the forum there stock list.
I always thought it drove more traffic to mfk when all the stock list go up! Like when Wes puts his up from rare fish I'm so excited and checking that out everytime!
