Jewel cichlid fry

So I woke up to 100s of swimming fry. Iv put half the fry in a tank on there own and left half with parents. What's best for the fry as parents are having a hard time protecting them there are to many. Is crushed flake ok for them to eat as soon as they are free swimming?

I start my newly hatched wigglers on frozen baby brine shrimp, then move them to Daphnia after about a month, THEN they should be ready for crushed flake and crushed pellet "dust"
