i think breeding saltwater fish on a comercial scale will be the next big moneymaker

but isnt it very difficult to breed a large majority of saltwater fish. BUt if you can find an effective way of doing it, probably more money in going with saltwater that freshwater.

also my senior project is coming up. where i have to prove that i could survive doing a job in the real world. i want to do something with breeding fish. do u have to get a liscense to breed fish and sell them. well i know u have to have something to sell them. but i would like to start pretty soon, and maybe try starting to sell fish. just wondering what i would have to do to be able to do this.

in 2007 i am going to study aquaculture.
I finished high school this year so thats mynext big step.
Hopefully running my own farm but that is in the distant future.

Most fish only require wholesalers permits to breed and sell plus local zoning compliance, (at least small scale). I would like to be a on site buyer for an importer. nota lot of bucks but cool job.

just open a aqua store and ur good or do somthing u love and that pays and u be good.

not much man, i'm in the same boat as you and have gotten a job at a Large aquarium store that is expanding quickly, i figure i can work with fish and make a decent living at it. I'm going to college for buisness managment and maby marine zoology. I figure The job may not pay alot even when i move up to the GM position but i find that i would rather love my job and get paid crap than hate my job and get paid alot. You have to balance out your wants and go from there. There really isnt a good paying fish job and if there is then only a few people have it and they are extremly lucky. Maby you could get a degree on something with buisness to fall back on and try and get a fish related degree. I dont suggest marine biology only because i work with 3 of them and they really dont get paid much and said its not very fun. What state are you located? you may be able to get a job at the franchis I work at (Aquarium Adventure) check out the site. http://aquariumadventure.com/ there is room to move up and we are not just a cheesy fish store, we are professionals that take our job very serious. The franchis is expanding and we are opening up another store in chicago. Look into it because i have never loved any job like this, i look foward to going to work and cant wait to move up and eventually become a fish manager or even a GM. PM me if you have any questions. and good luck
~Zack~

I am stuck also. I am in college working on an AA Degree b/c I have no idea what I want to do. I live in FL and the biggest anything to do with fish here as far as job's go is fish and game. I enjoy watching thing and tracking things so I was thinking about maybe data collecting and studying on certain species in the everglades but I have no idea what I need to do that. Plus job call's in any fish field here is very very low. =( I have no idea what else to do I got like a year and half to figure it out. In the meantime as a side project me and my dad are going to start building acrylic aquariums and sell them =)
