JOC...Gulper Catfish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
BF, it's your choice. You posted asking for advice and continue deflecting the advice given to you by people with plenty of experience to gulpers. Do what you will but a 30g certainly is not an option for gulpers.

ive heard of them safely in a 30...
and with 75g filtration

and it $200

You asked for our input and I gave you mine. My philosophy is that if you are going to spend $200 on a "centerpiece" fish, you should give it as close to an ideal habitat as possible (in reality, any fish deserves the best home possible. Such an expensive fish magnifies the need, IMO). I have no doubt that it would PROBABLY be okay in a 30g tank with high filtration and high maintenance. But I will side with multiple others who assert that a 55g would be better. If you don't have the money for a 55, you shouldn't be getting a gulper.

It sounds to me like your mind is made up. Despite my comments and those of others, you keep saying that a 30 will work. If you are so set on it, just do it and don't ask our input, which you seem to not really care to hear.

im cetainly taking the advice into consideration. i have the money for a 55, the problem is my parents said can get a 30, nothing more. i will try very hard to allow them to let me get a 55. please to not think i am not listening to advice...

Just tell your parents you want to keep catfish that need a tank bigger than a 30 gallon.

JOC, what would be the issue...space or bioload? if the answer is an absolute NO, ill go back to the Senegal plans...

probably both space and bioload. i think you should have 1 or 2 sengals, some rapheal cats, and a jaguar cat in the 30. And 2 kissing gouramis and some tiger barbs for the top. Your tank would look cool.
