My Johanna female was dead when I got home from work today. I fed cut up shrimp yesterday, and I guess she ate too much, and tried to hoard even more. She looked fine when I went to bed, even if she had a huge belly. But I guess she ate too much, or had stuffed so much in her mouth that she had trouble breathing. I don't know if she was dead when I got up this morning, or if she died while I was at work.

She was looking really gorgeous, had some nice deep reds, and was just starting to show a nice white stripe in her dorsal. Neither the colors nor the stripe show up in these pics though.

She was 8.5" long exactly. Bigger than I though she was. I'm now down to just 2 pike cichlids, my large male alta at about 8.5", and a female bellycrawler around 4". Maybe I'll pick up a small group of pikes the next time I see some juvies at the lfs...

Anyways, pics:

Cut it hopen and see if it was really from
That

Fellows, let's be reasonable, huh? This is not the time or the place to perform some kind of a half-assed autopsy on a fish... And I'm not going to stand here and see that thing cut open and see that little Kintner boy spill out all over the dock.

What??? He can only find the right problem and it might not be from over feeding so he wont blame and kick himself 24/7.

Jaws FTW!!!!

Its possible that she died before she could digest it, thus giving the impression she ate too much. Was there any left over food in the tank? Thats really odd though, I still have yet to see any of my pikes gorge themselves to death. I HAVE lost some to bloat though. :(
