nice pick up
thanks :D

I tried and tried to get good pix, but I couldn't. My project for this weekend is to get everything spotless and get some good pix of most or all of my fish. The jag and tex were checking it out with a little flaring (none from the pike), but they seem to be getting along just fine as of now. Here are the "best" five I took:

Cr. Sveni
i read that true lepidota are rare to find in the industry, so that doesn't surprise me. is that true?

Not sure, Peanut would know for certain. It looks exactly like my Sveni

In your thread about your new xingu, Peanut said yours isn't a sveni.

Guess I'll have to wait for some more ID opinions.

Thanks for the help so far.

Not the typical sveni anyway....;)

Male

It is possible that they are just really washed out though...;)
I don't understand all the winking :nilly:

I'm having a hard time w/ pike identification as they all seem to look alike, lol.

I'm sure it's a little "washed out" right now as I don't think it's fully settled in. I got another dual 36" T5 HO light strip tonight, so that will greatly help me to get some better pix this weekend once it settles in.

It wouldn't be the first pike that Mike had labeled wrong. I bought my Ven as Strigata.

Whatever it is, it is a beaut!

yep thats a C. sveni good pike mine is pretty active and very hungery all the time like alot of pikes its a smaller 8''-10'' but still agood pike and yes C. sveni are miss labled as lepidota alot they can be hard to tell apart i bought my old Ven from mike as a strigata too still a great fish but is one of if not the biggest pike so i had to get rid of it makes me sad i miss it great pike allways at the front of the glass wanting food

you can try to look around at petsmart for a johanna if you still wan't one also if you see an orange pike at petsmart that would be cool if you could let me know that would be an xingu I most likely usually petsmart only has belly crawlers and a few tiny sveni once but i'm told that johanna and Xingu I are there some times look for a sort of flat face on johanna and the nostrils are very close all most touching the mouth very distinctive

one last thing get ready for a big eater

I never gave the ones at poopsmart much thought since I figured they were dwarfs since they usually have no idea what they have. Maybe, I'll take a better look at them. I think there are a couple around me with one left each on "clearance".
