Judging a fh's potential?

I am wondering how big a fh has to be before you can be sure if your fish is a stud or a dud? How do you judge kok potential? I have a 4" rd fader with great color (so far), I believe is male. I recently removed all tankmates and it started the fading a couple days later. I have the temp at 80 deg. and have been feeding it hikari cichlid gold and omega one freeze dried shrimp. I think it is starting to get a slight hump but not much of one. Am I expecting too much too soon? Will this diet and temp be sufficient for decent kok growth? I bought him at a local store for $8 so I have no idea what to expect.

We are on the same boat, bro.. except mine is a kamfa & bought it for $4.. Hopefully it blossoms though as I've put in a lot of effort in raising it up.. I'm sure you do too..

Thats a BA rd in that vid.
I'm pretty sure mine has the color potential, and I was told faders usually turn out awesome, I'm just not sure how big they are supposed to be when they start developing a nuchal hump. I don't intend on buying headbooster so I was wondering if Hikari cich. gold, freeze dried shrimp and bloodwoorms supply the nutrition to develope a decent kok?

Its hard to tell but i would say 5"+ thats just my opinion

Can't really tell from the pics. He doesn't look promising at this point but he could still turn into something really cool with size, especially if he start fading. Give him 2-3" and post some more pics.
