Just want to share a picture of my discus pair.

discus will be fine in hard water. it's just breeding that requires softed water. my water is'nt real hard but it's far from soft, and I have wilds. they will adapt. there is a lot of old myths on discus that have been proven wrong.

Domestics maybe. Wilds, I wouldn't recommend keeping them in hard water. But of course, it all depends on your water's hardness. Everybody has different water. Even somebody 20-30 miles away can have a completely different water chemistry. What works for one doesn't always work for others.

thanks for the kind words. i actually find that discus are really hardy and adaptive.

They are once they are established. and hard water tends to have a high PH. Discus like lower PH. the easiest way to maintain it is by using RO or Reverse Osmosis water
