jumped black arowana

sorry to hear . . . i have a question, since my arowana is about the same size as your's was. you said you had the tank well secured and you don't know how he got out. was the cover ajar in anyway, when you found him? based on the evidence, can you speculate how he managed to get out of the tank? I worry about mine attempting to jump. he's getting bigger and stronger everyday. i have a good lid, but the rear of my lid has the typical plastic piece with cut outs for hoses, heaters, etc . . .

Weight that down, I lost a similar size black in the same manner. Aro was dead on the floor and the top of the tank looked normal. Only thing I could figure was it slipped out through those plastic pieces.
 
I don't even use those pieces, I use more rigid "plexi" or perspex sheets from Home Depot, with bricks.
 
bass are doing good. eating market shrimp. thinking of trading them in to golden fish for some silver and jars. she got 3" silver for $30 and jardini for $43
