my aros have a moonlight so it is never completely dark... well all my fish have moonlights plus it is kinda cool to watch your fish in the dark with only moonlights...

no diernal animal likes complete darkness, it is one of the most unsafe feelings they can get, they should have a night (moon) light so they can see everything when they decide they are threatened and come out of that resting state, and have the ability to check there suroundings and drift off again.
